The Pioneer-Sarah Creek Watershed lies within western Hennepin County and includes the Pioneer Creek and Sarah Creek watersheds. The Crow River demarcates most of the watershed’s northern boundary while the Wright County line forms its western boundary. The Elm Creek and Minnehaha Creek watersheds share its northeastern and southeastern boundaries, respectively.
The watershed covers approximately 70.5 square miles. Independence comprises 42% of the land area of the watershed, followed by Greenfield (30%), Minnetrista (15%), Medina (10%), Maple Plain (1.1%) and Loretto (0.4%).
